The Royal Copenhagen Lodge by Arne Jacobsen
When Arne Jacobsen—considered one of the fathers of Danish modernism—was hired by Scandinavian Airline Techniques (SAS) to design and style a lodge in central Copenhagen, no detail went unnoticed. Opened in 1960, the hotel is Jacobsen’s Gesamtkunstwerk—total get the job done of art—for which he created anything ideal down to the silverware in the restaurant. Certainly, his famed Swan, Egg, and Fall chairs were being developed specially for the lodge. It’s now operated by Radisson as the Radisson Collection Royal Resort, and was refreshed by Room Copenhagen in 2018.
